Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about our pet care services
We know you have questions about entrusting your beloved pet to our care, and we're here to help! Below you'll find answers to our most commonly asked questions about boarding, daycare, grooming, and general policies. If you don't see your question answered here, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
Boarding
What should I bring for my pet's boarding stay?
We recommend bringing your pet's regular food to maintain their diet and avoid stomach upset. Feel free to bring a favorite toy or blanket that smells like home for comfort. All bedding and bowls are provided, but personal items can help anxious pets feel more at ease. Please label all items with your pet's name.
What are the vaccination requirements for boarding?
All dogs must be current on Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccinations. Cats require Rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. We ask that you provide proof of vaccination before your pet's first visit. If your pet has any medical conditions or takes medications, please let us know during booking.
Can I visit my pet during their boarding stay?
While we understand missing your furry friend, we generally discourage visits as they can cause anxiety when you leave again. However, we're happy to send photo and video updates so you can see how well your pet is doing! Our team genuinely cares for every guest and treats them like family.
What are your check-in and check-out times?
Check-in and check-out times vary by location. Please call our Bangor location at (207) 378-1118 or our Holden location at (207) 745-8519 to confirm times and schedule your pet's stay. We recommend booking in advance, especially during holidays and peak vacation seasons.
Daycare
Does my dog need an evaluation before starting daycare?
Yes, all new daycare dogs must complete a temperament evaluation to ensure they're comfortable in a group play environment. This evaluation helps us understand your dog's play style, social preferences, and any special needs. It's a great way for us to get to know your pup and place them in the right playgroup.
How are playgroups organized?
We organize playgroups based on size, energy level, and play style to ensure every dog has a safe and enjoyable experience. Our trained staff continuously monitors all play sessions and rotates dogs through rest periods to prevent overstimulation. We believe happy dogs are tired dogs!
What happens if my dog doesn't enjoy group play?
Not every dog is suited for group daycare, and that's perfectly okay! Some dogs prefer quieter environments or one-on-one attention. If your dog seems stressed in group settings, we'll work with you to find alternative arrangements, such as private play sessions or enrichment activities that better suit their personality.
Do you offer daycare packages?
Yes! We offer various daycare packages that provide savings for regular attendees. Check our rates page for current pricing and package options. Multi-day packages are great for working pet parents who need consistent care throughout the week.
Grooming
How often should my dog be groomed?
Grooming frequency depends on your dog's breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Generally, dogs with longer coats benefit from professional grooming every 4-6 weeks, while shorter-coated breeds may only need grooming every 8-12 weeks. Our groomers can recommend a schedule that works best for your pet during their first appointment.
What grooming services do you offer?
We offer a full range of grooming services including baths, haircuts, nail trims, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and de-shedding treatments. Whether your pup needs a quick tidy-up or a complete spa day, our experienced groomers will have them looking and feeling their best. Visit our grooming page for full service details.
Can I stay during my pet's grooming appointment?
We find that pets typically behave better and feel calmer when their owners aren't present during grooming. However, we understand some pets have special needs. Please discuss any concerns with our grooming team, and we'll work together to make your pet's experience as stress-free as possible.
What if my dog is anxious about grooming?
Our patient, experienced groomers are skilled at working with anxious or nervous dogs. We take our time, use gentle handling techniques, and can break appointments into shorter sessions if needed. For extremely anxious pets, we may recommend consulting with your veterinarian about calming aids.
